Normand Gaudet
GAUDET, NORMAND “PIUS” - Normand "Pius" Gaudet, 77, of Monarch Hall, Riverview, and formerly of Melville Street, Moncton, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born April 21, 1936 in St-Paul, he was the son of the late Émile and Rita (Belliveau) Gaudet. Normand was retired from Vachon Inc. He was an avid card player and loved sports, especially the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees. He was a founding member of the Moncton Horseshoe League, 4th Degree member with the Knights of Columbus Council Msgr. A.J. Melanson, past member of the Parkton Golden Age Club, the NB Referee Association for 30 years, the NB Softball association and Scouts Canada. He was past volunteer with the Red Cross soup kitchen and past president of the St-Vincent-de-Paul (Notre-Dame-de-Grâce). A family man, he loved spending time with his family and extended family as well as at his camp, fishing and hunting. He was also inducted in the NB Sports Hall of fame. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jeannette née Henri; six children: Monique LeBlanc (Charles) of Riverview, Charline Wilkins (Darrell), Danielle Jones (Eric Alward) and Chantal Bujold (Jacques), all of Moncton, Lillianne Melanson (Léo) of Oromocto, Carole Durelle (Gilles) of Memramcook; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters and brothers: Juliette LeBlanc (Emery) of MA, Thérèse Flewelling of Dieppe, Maria Cormier (Jean-Albert) of Haute-Aboujagane, Clarence (Julia), Paul (Anita), Donald (Lillianne) and Armand (Georgette), all of Moncton; his mother-in-law, Dorina Henri-Aucoin of Moncton; two aunts: Laura Robichaud and Edmée Belliveau; one uncle, William “Bill” Belliveau (Aline); many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Jean-Maurice; a granddaughter, Martine; a grandson, Serge; two sisters: Annette and infant Lillianne; a brother, Yvon.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Thursday, January 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and Friday, January 3rd from 10 am until departure for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 858 Mountain Road, Moncton, from where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Normand, a contribution to the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce parish would be appreciated.
