Joyce May Louise Roode (Andrews)
ROODE (Andrews), Joyce May Louise – 78, Crowes Mills, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, December 30, 2013, at home. Born April 28, 1935, in Stewiacke, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth George Andrews (Killed in Action Overseas) and Greta Georgina (Whidden) Andrews and step-daughter of the late Johnny Christensen. Joyce was an avid quilter and many will remember the fine quilts she made and they will treasure them forever. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds play and feed in her yard. Joyce is survived by her husband, Jack Donald Roode; children, Sheila Andrews, Jamie (Margo) Roode, Jack Roode Jr.; siblings, Anne (Charles) Jewers, Dartmouth; Joan (Kees) Van Kempon, Onslow; Christine (Wayne) Johnston, Alberta; Glen (Shirley) Christiansen, Truro; brother-in-law, Everett Dickie, New Brunswick; three grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and step-father, she was predeceased by her son, Darren Roode; siblings, Barb Harnish, Bea Dickie, Shirley (Jim) Colborne, Max Christensen, Wayne Christensen. Private family funeral service was held in Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, Reverend Brian DeLong officiated. Spring interment will be held in Belmont Cemetery.
