BAYLISS, DOROTHY PEARL - It is with great sadness we announce the death of Dorothy Pearl Bayliss, 90, of Moncton, who passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday morning, January 1, 2014. Born in Bedford, NS, she was the daughter of the late Carl W. and Catherine Pearl (Johnson) Eisener. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her son, Nigel T.S. Bayliss and his wife, Deborah Ann Bayliss (Dealy) of Riverview; brother, Joseph Eisener of Ontario and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of over 45 years, John C. Bayliss (October 1998). Dorothy loved to ski when younger and enjoyed spending time on the Bedford lakes. She attended Maritime Business College and worked at Eastern Air Command during World War II. She then met her husband John, married and spent some time in England, having traveled across the Atlantic Ocean in an aircraft carrier, to John’s home before moving to Newfoundland. She has lived in New Glasgow and Timberlea, Nova Scotia, with her current residence being Moncton. Dorothy has enjoyed many trips with her late husband John to Greece, Italy and many old world places of interest throughout Europe and Asia, as well as some cruises in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Alaska. With a love of the color purple and a passion for gardening, music, antiques, church, choir and the arts. She was a member of the Moncton Art Society, Riverview Art Council and an honorary member of the USI. Dorothy was also a member of the Officers Mess and attended many functions, formal dances and dinners and faithfully attended St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and supported their many causes.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Hildegard Drive) on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 4:00 pm, with Rev. Dr. Martin Kreplin officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. In Dorothy’s memory, donations to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Building Fund or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
