Hilda Daigle

DAIGLE, HILDA MAY - After a courageous fight, Hilda (Letson) Daigle passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bobby’s Hospice, with her beloved family by her side. Born in Saint John, she is the daughter of the late George and Freida (Swinn) Letson and loving wife of Joseph Daigle for 38 years until his passing. Hilda worked as a nursing aid at the Loch Lomond Villa for several years doing what came natural to her. She was such a caring lady, always there to help her family in any way she could. She adored time spent with her grandchildren and cultivated many close friendships over the years through the “adventures” she and Joe had with the Independent Order of Foresters and summers spent trailering at Town and Country in Sussex. Hilda enjoyed so many things, like her various bowling leagues, gardening and flowers, travelling first with Joe and then her brother Robert after Joe’s passing. Her love of a “road trip” even lead her to a position where she would pick up and deliver vehicles for car dealerships and rental agencies, as well as, personal travels out west, to Bermuda and even on an amazing Alaskan cruise. Hilda’s love of family, kindness and fabulous sense of humour will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons Walter (Maria), Stephen (Colleen), both of Saint John and David (Brenda), Edmonton, AB; daughters Trish (Nick) Rowse, Bermuda, Jacqueline Martin, Saint John and Jean (George) Urquhart, Smithtown; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, as well as many extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband Joe, Hilda was also predeceased by her brother Robert Letson; half-brothers Phil, Alphie, George and Roy Letson and her half-sisters Maude Connolly, Alice Muzerolle and Kathleen Letson.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation Monday 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am with interment at a later date. Following the funeral, a reception will be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hilda’s memory made to Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by her family.
