FLINN, EUGENE LEROY - Gene Flinn of Fredericton was born in 1942 in Maple Grove, NB died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital with his family by his side, on Sunday, January 5th, 2014 after a short fight with cancer. Gene will be sadly missed by his wife Heather (Robertson) Flinn of Fredericton, and son John “Johnny” Flinn of Ottawa, ON, whom he was very proud of. Gene is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many and varied friends. Gene was predeceased by his parents Leroy and Gladys (Merritt) Flinn, and Heather’s parents Tootie and John Robertson formerly of Martinon, NB. Gene started his career as a Plumber Pipefitter (Local 213 – 48 year member). He worked for Honeywell for a number of years, before going into business for himself in Fredericton. He was a member of the 213 Local Plumbers and Pipefitters, Southern NB Truckers Association and the Teamsters Union. One of Gene’s greatest joys was working with his Ford LT9000.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). At Gene’s request there will be no visitation. A grave side service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery, 200 Westmorland Road on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. Arrival at Fernhill office gate for 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
