McNEIL, MATTHEW JOHN - With deepest regrets we announce the death of Matthew John McNeil of Fredericton. Born on March 4, 1977, he was the son of Philip and Vicky (Lockhart) McNeil. He was a lifelong resident of Fredericton. Matthew passed away at home on January 10, 2014. Matthew was active in baseball, playing for the Marysville Royals in his younger years and in recent years he enjoyed watching sports on television. He had a pleasant personality and enjoyed being with his family. Matthew graduated from Fredericton High School and the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Computer Science. He was an employee of New Brunswick Liquor Commission head office. Besides his parents, Matthew is survived by his son, Ben and Ben's mother, Julie (Griffiths) McNeil; sister, Brigitte (Chris Corey) and their children, Allyson and Andrew Corey; aunts, Elynor Sargeant (Charles), Joanne Bishop (Frank) and Beth Jones (Maynard); uncles, Fred McNeil (Connie), Bob McNeil (Marianne) and Jim Lockhart (Carol) and several cousins. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Margaret and Jack McNeil; maternal grandparents, Jeanne and Raymond Lockhart; his aunts, Noreen McNeil and Betty Cleroux and his uncle, Phillip Lockhart.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral mass will be held from St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Monte Peters officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
