It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edie on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at the MacGillivray Guest Home cradled in the arms of her loving family, after a very long battle with Alzheimers.
Born and raised in New Victoria, Edie was the daughter of the late Lillian (Clarke) and Robert George.
Edie was a kind, gentle and generous soul who loved and enjoyed her family, as well as attending her Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Surviving are her sons, Dr. Wayne (Linda), CA and Ian (Kris), OH; daughters, Dorothy (Ron) Gass, N.S. and Brenda Jennex, N.S.; special granddaughter, Dottie (Gordie) McEachern, New Waterford; great-grandson, Kyle McEachern, Ont.; brother, Kenny (Margie) George, New Victoria and sister-in-law, Chris George, New Waterford. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, as well as many close nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Edie was predeceased by her husband, Amos; sons, Donnie and Gary; and siblings, Bobby, Teddy and Dorothy Leadbeater.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 1:30 p.m., with Pastor John Lyons officiating. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
