Jean Dorothy Khallil, age 83, passed away January 14, 2014 in the Shannex, Orchard Court, Kentville. Born in West Devon, PEI, to the late James and Mae (Sellick) Beaton; she was raised in a family of 11 children. She was a homemaker who had an amazing lifelong talent for gardening. Jean was a wonderful cook and a very hard worker, who used her many practical talents in maintaining her home. She is survived by daughters, Diane Khallil, Wolfville; Christine (John) De Boer, Moncton, NB; son, Kevin, Halifax; brother, Wallace (Gerry) Beaton, Coldbrook; brother-in-law, Frank Hillier, New Minas; grandchildren, Adam and Rachael De Boer, David and Nathan Khallil, Rebecca, Matthew and Blake Khallil; great grandchildren, Abigail De Boer and Evangeline Khallil. She was predeceased by her husband, George Khallil; son, George "Glen" Khallil. There was no visitation by her request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Randy Crozsman officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
