Roland MacKay "Jake" Boutilier
BOUTILIER, Roland MacKay “Jake” – 83, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, following a long battle with cancer that he fought with dignity and grace. Born January 1, 1931, in Riversdale, Colchester County, he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret (MacKay) Boutilier and step-son of the late Greta (Crouse) Boutilier. Jake was a member of Valley United Church and worked at Sproule Lumber from where he retired in 1995. He loved his family and spent many years with his sons hunting and fishing and enjoyed watching their ball games. He especially enjoyed their many trips to Mooseland to catch “the big ones”. Long drives, trips to the races, dancing, playing cards, family barbecues and washer toss made him smile. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was their number one fan. He loved watching Hayden play hockey, Kenzie bowl and fishing with Jacob. Jake and Cora traveled to Newfoundland in the summer of 2013 which fulfilled one of his dreams. Jake will be dearly missed by his sons, Larry (Erin, grandson Jacob), Stevie (Tracy Lynn, grandsons Hayden and Mackenzie); sister, Thelma “Toots” Wilson; loving companion, Cora MacKay. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Annie (Robar); sisters, Ella Langille, Hazel Watson; twin brother, Ronald; brothers, Roy, Earl. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, 3rd Floor, especially, Dr. Smith, John, Mary Lou, Alisha for taking care of Dad during his time in the hospital, Dr. Bruce Phillips for his good care of Dad over the years and a special thank you to Jay O’Brien who enabled us to get Dad home every day right up until the end.
