F. Crawford Kinnear
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of F. Crawford Kinnear, 83 of Brookdale on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan surrounded by his devoted and loving family.
Born September 5, 1930 in Jolicure, NB, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Barbour) Kinnear.
In his earlier years, Crawford worked for several places, including Enterprise Foundry and later took on carpentry work. However he will always be remembered for his hard work in the woods throughout his life.
Crawford had a sincere interest in birds, and following his retirement he raised Peacocks, Turkey’s and Guinea Hens to name a few.
He also enjoyed mowing his lawn as well as his time in the vegetable garden, sharing his crop with family and friends.
His latter years were spent sitting in his gazebo, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren by his side.
Crawford will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (McFadden); children, Joan (Bob) MacDonald, Amherst, Tim (Valerie), Amherst, Kathy (David) Linkletter, Elmsdale, NS, Robert (Diane), Amherst and Mark (Heather), Brookdale; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Sadie (Roy) Dupuis, Amherst; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, William and Joseph; sister, Elsie Harrison.
Cremation has taken place.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. with funeral service on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Reception will follow in the funeral home.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Point de Bute Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Crawford’s memory may be made to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Palliative Care Unit, Brookdale United Church or charity of your choice.
