Dorothy Isabel Young, 55, of Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Glasgow, N.S., she was the daughter of Isabel 'Betty' (MacKinnon) MacDougall and the late Harold F. MacDougall. Dorothy was employed with the Scotia Bank and enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, travelling and socializing with her family and friends.
In addition to her mother Betty, Dorothy will be sadly missed by her husband of 34 years, Kevin Young; cherished children, Nicole Young of Columbus, Ohio and Kevin Young of Prince George, B.C.; sisters, Marie Richards, Ellen 'Cookie' Adamson (Bruce), Helen Sutherland, John MacDougall, Janette Robichaud, Joyce Winmill (Bruce) and Pat MacDougall; several nieces and nephews and extended family members; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Eunice Young.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Memorial service to be held at a later date in New Glasgow, N.S.
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses of the Oncology Clinic and the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital for the love and care shown to Dorothy during her stay.
In Dorothy’s memory, donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care) would be appreciated by the family.
