(1938 - 2014) - Frank passed away peacefully at Captain William Jackman Memorial hospital after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Predeceased by his parents, Daniel & Margaret; brothers Arthur, Alexander & Sidney. Also predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Snow) in 2011. Frank will be dearly missed by his brothers Reginald, Gerald & John, sisters Marie, Helen & Jane; his loving children, Dan (Tonya), Dave (Roxanne) Frank (Lorraine), Jane (Bill Hopkins), Bob (Linda), Tanya (Bob Powell), & Bill (Louann); grandchildren (Christopher), (Samantha), (Justin), (Taylor, Anna & Julia), (Frankie & Hope), (Liam), (Danielle); great granddaughter Emmah; as well his many other relatives and friends. Frank was born and raised in Reserve Mines, NS. He moved to Buchans, NF as an import hockey player in 1959 to play for the Miners and it was there he met the love of his life Elizabeth. They married in 1960 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage together. Frank enjoyed many successful years in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League before moving to Wabush, NF in 1973. Frank was recognized for his outstanding play with the Miners (1959-1970) & Grand Falls Cataracts (1970-1973) in 1996 when he was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Hall of Fame. Frank was a sports enthusiast and he shared this passion with all who knew him. He volunteered his time and knowledge as a coach & mentor within the community. His love of hockey, baseball, & golf has been passed down and will forever live in his children & grandchildren. He will forever be in our hearts. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 27, 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral to take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Wabush. If so desired flowers are accepted or a donation can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
