Clair Sprague

SPRAGUE, CLAIR ROLAND - With heavy hearts, the family of Clair Sprague announces his passing on January 26, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Clair was born at Hatfield Point, NB on January 9, 1928 to the late George and Odessia (Stanley) Sprague. He was the loving husband of Cecile (Thurber) Sprague for 47 years. Clair was a gentle, kind man who especially loved people and spending time “up country” in the beautiful Belleisle Bay area. He was a hardworking, devoted family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry and gardening in his spare time. Clair had a special interest in the natural world and delighted those around him with his wry observational humour. Clair was employed as a bus operator with SMT (Eastern) Ltd. for 33 years until his retirement in 1992 with an accident-free record. He was a proud Sprague genealogist and volunteered at the Bayview Cemetery in his beloved Hatfield Point. Clair will be greatly missed by Cessy, Connie (George Garrett) of Saint John, Cindy (Ken McCullogh) of Rothesay, Dana (Angie Spear) of Orlando, FL, Danny of Saint John, and Lynn of Saint John; grandchildren Ben, Alicia, Sarah, Aaron and Lauren; sister Georgie Pearson of Sussex and many nieces and nephews. Clair was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses Gordon (Jean), Arnold (Della), Edmund (Geneva), Earl (Hazel), Oscar, Vera Neill (George) and Madeleine Jeffery (Frank); brother-in-law Malcolm Pearson; and his best friend, Joe Ricketson.
