MARK ERNEST (ERNIE) PORTER
June 9, 1921 - January 21, 2014
A man of incredible integrity, Ernie quietly passed peacefully to the next level amongst family and friends.
Born in Cornwall, England, he joined the Royal Air Force at the young age of 19 years and shortly thereafter became a prisoner of war in Ohama, Japan in 1942. After the war he started his family and in 1956 made his way to Canada.
Respect and acknowledgement were the foundations of his character which he displayed to all who came into his presence.
The brethren of Mt. Elphinstone Lodge were blessed to know him when he moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2008. He was recently honoured by the Grand Master in a room full of brethren from around the province for his 50 years of dedication to freemasonry. A stickler for proper decorum, the brethren will sorely miss his presence in the lodge.
May his journey be calm and peaceful to the grand lodge above.
