McLEOD, ALMEDA - Mrs. Almeda McLeod of Penobsquis passed away on January 29, 2014, at the age of 98. Born in Passekeag, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Sarah Chestnut and the wife of the late George W. McLeod. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Desjardin of Manitoba; three step-daughters: Donna Murray (Edwin) of Penobsquis, Marilyn Parlee (Allan) of Fredericton, Kathy Huestis (Andy Dawson) of Fredericton; a step daughter-in-law, Caroline Green of Penobsquis; three step-sons: Wayne McLeod (Min) of Penobsquis, Richard McLeod (Shirley) of Penobsquis, Dale McLeod (Janet) of Stewiacke, NS; two sisters-in-law: Agnes Chestnut of Onslow, NS and Carrie Chestnut-Gowlett of Sussex; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; Almeda is predeceased by six brothers: George, Walter, John, Joseph, Arthur and Elmer; four sisters: Mary, Sadie, Frances and Irene.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A service celebrating Almeda’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 12:00 noon, followed by a tribute offered by the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 and Fundy Branch # 68. There will be a time of fellowship with the family immediately following the service.
