The death occurred peacefully at Beach Grove Home, Charlottetown, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, of William Preston "Bill" Toombs, formerly of Kensington, aged 88 years, Veteran WW2. Born in Kensington on March 16, 1925, son of the late Preston and Pearl (Goss) Toombs. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dot (Henderson) Toombs. Devoted father of David and Janye Toombs (Scott Stewart). Adored by grandchildren William and Andrew Stewart. He will be deeply missed by sister Betty Madren and sister-in-law Jean Toombs, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant son Dean Toombs, brother Linwood Toombs and brother-in-law David Madren. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service Saturday 1:30 p.m. at the Kensington United Church. Interment in Kensington People’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pat and the Elephant or the Kensington People’s Cemetery Fund. Comrades of the Lt. Col. E.W. Johnstone Royal Canadian Legion Br. #9 Kensington will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home Friday at 7 p.m.
