Eric (Dick) Budgell passed away at the Labrador Health Centre in Goose Bay on the morning of January 22, 2014 from, in his words, "being just too damn old". Born in Rigolet on April 4, 1925, Dick lived a long, healthy and remarkable life. He was many things to many people in his 88 years: loyal son, beloved brother, cherished uncle, devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, trusted friend. He was a mentor, teacher, hunter, fisherman, pilot, guide, hero, fixer of broken things, lover of the outdoors and an extraordinary story teller. He was truly a wonderful man who touched so many people during his lifetime. He sure had a good run. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by wife Barbara, daughter Rosalind (Tom), brother Halden, grandsons Eric and Aidan and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held in NWR on July 25, 2014 to allow family and friends to attend.
