Passed on: January 5th, 2014

Neil Gregory MacMullin was born Jan. 23, 1956 in Glace Bay, N.S. Greg was carried home in the arms of his heavenly father on Jan. 5, 2014 at the age of 57 years.
Greg is free now from the bondage of the chains of cancer. Greg loved to watch the UFC and he was our “Ultimate Fighting Champion”. He never, ever gave up. He got up every day, took on the day and was always planning for tomorrow. He was still “swinging for the fence”. Nevertheless, like all fighters there comes a time to retire and Greg’s time came. Greg's career started at Atomic Energy of Canada in Glace Bay, N.S. In 1986, he started working for Chevron in Fox Creek and in 1991 moved to Olds where he started work for Shell Canada. It was not unusual for co-workers and acquaintances to express how much they liked working with/for Greg. Greg loved practical jokes and having a great laugh. He exemplified all the titles of son, brother, husband, father & friend, we are all better for having known & loved him. He will be remembered in every breath, laugh & sometimes tears. Greg will never be forgotten.
Greg is survived by his wife, Cathy (nee Debison); daughter, Kayla (Brett) Ferguson; son, Troy MacMullin; parents, Neil & Betty MacMullin of Glace Bay, N.S.; brother & best friend, Jerry (Carol) MacMullin of Irricanna, as well as a very special aunt, Barb (Lorne) MacIntyre of Port Hawkesbury, N.S. Greg’s loyal companion through all the years his dog, Wynston never left his side.
Greg was predeceased by very dear grandparents, James & Elizabeth (Bowers) MacDougall of Glace Bay, N.S.
The family would like to thank all Greg’s co-workers for their support and friendships during his illness. Also to all our friends near and far, your support and prayers were appreciated and we are sure that helped to guide Greg’s soul home.
In Greg’s memory we would ask you live every day to the fullest, take nothing & no one for granted, forgive one another, love your family & make amends. Life is way too short. May the Peace of Jesus Christ our Lord be with all of you & keep you safe. Pax et Bonum (Peace & Goodwill).
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Glace Bay on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Leo Boone celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

Footprints
One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way; but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me. The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.
