GASTMEIER, RAYMOND “RAY” - Raymond “Ray” Gastmeier, 43, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.Born in Toronto, he was the son of Dolores (Sylvester) Gastmeier and the late Donald Gastmeier. Ray was a Regional Manager with Speedy Auto Glass and was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed refereeing hockey, was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, but first and foremost, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Ray will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sylvie Collin-Gastmeier (married December 14, 2013); cherished children, Ellie Youden, Taylor and Connor Gastmeier; sisters, Heidi Gastmeier (Brian Begg), Audrey and Tara Gastmeier; brother, Chris Gastmeier; nieces and nephews, Christian, Gillian, Alexis, Quinn, Gabriel, Reiss, Niko, Annik and Dominic; mother-in-law, Esther Collin; brother-in-law, Andre Collin (Louise); sister-in-law, Renee Babineau (Gino). In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, Ron Collin and brother-in-law, Patrick Guaita.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service for Ray will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:30 pm. In Ray’s memory, donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
