ACKER, (Sawler) Marjorie Christina, 92, of Birchtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Roseway Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Birchtown she was a daughter of the late William and Jessie (Acker) Sawler. Marjorie enjoyed baking and was known for her chocolate cake among other family favourites. She not only took care of her own family but was very involved in helping to raise her grandchildren as well as taking care of her aging mother, father and aunt. She never complained about the long hours and hard work she did over the years. At meal time everyone in the house had a plate of food and no one went without. Marjorie had a love of animals and would always feed the strays that came around. Her greatest love and concern was for all of her family. She is survived by her children: Angus, Sheila (JR), and David; grandchildren, George (Teresa); Wanda (Melvin), and Ruby (Fran); great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Deidra, Jevin, Natasha, Blake and Kelsey; great great-grandchild, Isabella as well as nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by dog Charlie and kitty, Muffin. She was predeceased by husband, Malcolm; daughter, Joan; sisters, Minnie, Naomi, Hazel and daughter-in-law, Melissa. The funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8, at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne, with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Burial in Mizpah Cemetery.
