FOWLER, DANIEL - Daniel Fowler, of Moncton passed away at the Moncton Hospital on February 5th, 2014 at the age of 78. Born in Moncton, NB on October 22nd, 1935, he was the youngest son of the late Edward and Vera Marjorie (Bell). Daniel is survived by his loving wife Phyllis (Wilson) of 58 years, children, Shane (Rita), Sharon Wells (Ralph), and Terry. Grandchildren, Leslie Lepage (Mike), Bradley Fowler, Melissa, John, Daniel Wells (Holly Hamilton), Brennan and Daniel Fowler, great grandchildren, Coralie Lepage and Christopher Wells, and brother Donnie (Frances). Aside from his parents, Daniel is predeceased by his brothers, Jack and Bill. Daniel began his career with the Canadian Navy and then worked as an air traffic controller until his retirement with 35 years of dedicated service. With his love of hunting and salmon fishing, upon his retirement he and Phyllis began their joint venture, Nash Bar Lodge on the Miramichi for a period of 10 years. With over 50 years as a guide, his guests included Lee Wulf and many others. Community was important to him and was shown through his support to the Sunny Brae Legion where he was a member for over 50 years, Young At Heart Seniors Club, Past President and Life member of the New Brunswick Wildlife Federation, the Moncton Fish & Game Assoc., and the St. Anthony Snowmobile Club.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday, February 9th, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a memorial service on Monday, February 10th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A Legion service will take place prior to the memorial service at 1:50 p.m. Internment will take place at a later date at Gray’s Island Cemetery, Hillsborough. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the N.B. Heart & Stroke Foundation, Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Sunny Brae Legion or donor’s choice.
