Eva Evelyn Stewart, 64, of MacGuire Drive, Sydney, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Ernestine (Shaw) Shaw.
Eva grew up and attended school in Margaree Centre and graduated from high school in Margaree Forks, as well as CBBC. She was an elder, clerk of session and long time member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney. For many years, Eva was employed with Irving Oil. She was instrumental in bringing Celtic Colours concerts to St. Andrew’s Church.
Surviving are her husband, Allan; daughter, Alana (Brent) MacKinnon; sisters, Hilda (Charles) McDaniel, Myrtle (Myles) LeBlanc and Ethel Anne Kennedy; brothers, Robert (Peggy) Shaw and David (Paula) Shaw; two grandchildren, Ashton and Chelsea MacKinnon; many nieces and nephews; and special loved ones, Colette Surette, Nicole MacAdam, Shaun Clemmens and Cheri Vasquez.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at United Baptist Church on Saturday 2 p.m., with Rev. Boyce Elliott and Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment in Margaree at a later date.
