SKINNER, DR. DONALD - The death of Dr. Donald Skinner occurred on February 15th, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Donald was born in Chelmsford, Essex County, England on July 7th, 1922 to the late Percy and Clara Skinner, and was the husband to the late Rosemary Skinner. Don had a busy life from an early age and past retirement. He served his country as a Captain in the Royal Corps of Signals in the British Army from 1941 until 1947. He graduated from Oxford University and Royal Veterinary College in London, England, becoming a veterinarian for the British Colonial Service in Kenya, East Africa from 1956 to 1965. Don moved to Canada in 1965 and began working for the Federal Government as a veterinarian, working in Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick. He retired in 1988 and moved to Harvey, NB where he focused on his hobbies; hunting, fishing, and trap and skeet shooting. He also enjoyed training hunting dogs and playing a round of golf. Donald is survived by his sons, Stephen (Pam) and Nigel (Krista); grandsons, Dylan (Lana) and Julian (Cyndi); and great grandchildren, Sophie, Madilyn, Isabel, Sam, Adam, and Jacob. Along with his parents, Donald was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel with The Ven. John Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Forest Hill Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 will perform a tribute at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 19th, 2014.
