It is with heavy hearts, that we, the family of Anne Marie Campbell (née McIntyre) announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, on February 14, 2014. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief struggle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, June 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Roderick (Dick) and Elizabeth (Betty) McIntyre (Aucoin).
Anne Marie’s warmth and smile could light up a room. She enjoyed friendly competition, game nights with her children and excelled at Jeopardy. She loved music and dancing and could be seen most Saturday nights at The Pensioner’s Club or wherever her favourite band was playing. Anne Marie delighted in making children happy. She enjoyed volunteering at Passchendaele House Preschool twice a week and often came home with stories of the fun she had while there. Anne Marie will be remembered for her giving nature. Over the years, she volunteered at Transition House, Town House and in many capacities at the Holy Family Parish in McKay’s Corner.
Anne Marie is survived by her husband, Earl Campbell; her daughters, Amanda Morrison and Michelle Morrison-Hemeryck (Brad) and her sons Kenneth Morrison and Andrew Morrison. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Sherrie Campbell (Jonathan) and Stephanie Campbell (Marc) and her step-sons, Robert Campbell (Trish) and Stephen Campbell (Mary). Anne Marie will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, who she loved dearly as well as her sister Teresa Walker (George) and her brothers, Michael (Mae), Rod, David (Sandy), Harold (Janice), Mello (Stella), Cyril (Olivia), Brendon (Debbie) and her nieces and nephews who meant the world to her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of 3 South at the Glace Bay Hospital, especially Anne Marie’s favourites, Gerald, Terry and Megan. Also, thank you to Dr. Stephanie Ellerker for her support to the family at this trying time.
At Anne Marie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of Anne Marie’s life will take place at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. A luncheon will follow after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life team “Anne Marie’s Army” via a personal donation to Amanda Morrison or via this website:
