CLIFF, GEORGE ALFRED - George A. Cliff of Middle Southampton, NB passed away February 16, 2014 at Riverside Court, Woodstock, NB.
George was born at Rossville, NB in 1928, a son of the late Clarence and Pearl (Bartlett) Cliff. George was an active and founding member of the Middle Southampton Community Hall, a member of the Nackawic Lions Club, past associate member of RCL Southampton Branch # 27 and a member of the Carleton County Fiddlers. He was a self taught fiddle player who loved to play and listen to his fiddle music. George was a self taught mechanic, engineer, handyman and Mr. Fix-it. He was an expert vegetable gardener and voracious lobster and steak eater. George loved the out of doors, no matter the season, and he cherished spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Mary P. (Schriver) Cliff; a daughter, Jolene Caverhill, Woodstock, NB; two grandchildren, Marisa Pelkey (Paul), Woodstock and Brennan Caverhill (Ashley), Toronto, ON; two great grandsons, Jackson and Bennett Pelkey; a sister, Myra Glazier, British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son Allan; six sisters, Belle Sinclair, Inez Cliff, Mima Cliff, Marjorie Cliff, Alberta Buchanan and Emma McElman and two brothers, Roy Cliff and John Cliff.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be later at Otis Cemetery.
