NORDEN, EDWARD - Edward James (Eddie) Norden, 76, of Petitcodiac passed away peacefully Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital with family at his side. Born in Lewisville he was a son of the late William and Sadie Juanita (Dryden) Norden. Eddie was an active member of Petitcodiac Baptist Church and retired as a carman from CNR after 37 years service. He was an avid outdoorsman be it hunting, working in the family sugar woods or cutting his and others winter wood. A member of the Petitcodiac sportsman club he also enjoyed taking his antique John Deere tractor to local parades and shows. Together with his beloved wife Jean they enjoyed attending local music jams, square dancing, being members of the Citation Indian Trailer Club and spending time with their family. Eddie was always ready to lend a cheerful helping hand and he will be sadly missed by his many friends and the community. Survived and sadly missed by his wife of 55 years Jean (Elliott); their children Douglas of Petitcodiac, Carolyn Sweet of Petitcodiac; Michael of Greenwood N.S.; cherished grandchildren Allyssa and David Sweet, Hanna, Caleb, Jacob and Isaac; sisters Dorothy Gingerich (Richard) of Guelph; Marjorie Zammit (Albert) of Toronto;
sisters-in-law Kathleen and Linda Norden and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a grandson Joshua Norden and brothers Harold, John and George.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800)
with visiting Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Thursday, February 20 at 3 p.m. from the Petitcodiac Baptist Church with Rev. David Woodworth officiating. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorials to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
