(November 1, 1920 - February 14, 2014) Rita Furlong (Doyle) of Shoe Cove passed peacefully away on February 14, 2014 in the presence of her loving family and friends at St. Patrick's Mercy Home at the age of 93 years. Rita is predeceased by her husband, Joseph (1996), sons, Joseph (1963); Wayne (1996) and daughter-in-law Christine (2010). Moms humble nature was reflected in the love she shared as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Family and friends are deeply saddened by her passing, but find great comfort knowing she lived life to the fullest. Moms strength and charisma formed a bond that united family and friends. Left to mourn sons, Gordon (Cecilia), Gerard (Beverly), Philip (Barbara), Paul, Brian (Christine), Kenneth (Doreen); daughters, Bernice (Paul Maddigan); Margie (Ted Everson); Phyllis (Ken Nagle - deceased); Tish (Terry Mulcahy - deceased); Dot (John Waterman); Bunny (Walter Carroll); Gerry (Roy Peach); daughter-in-law Juanita Furlong; brother, Len Doyle; sister, Pauline Hickey; sister-in-law, Joan Doyle; brother-in-law, Phonse Hawco and special niece, Lucy Crouse (and family); 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff, nurses and close friends for the memorable times at St. Patrick's Mercy Home. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, Torbay on Sunday, February 16th at 12:00 noon to 9:00 PM and Monday, February 17th from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Funeral at St. Agnes Church, Pouch Cove on Tuesday, February 18th at 10:00 AM. Flowers greatly accepted or donations in Rita's memory to the St. Agnes' Cemetery Fund.
