David George Isaac Cleyle - 64, of Kentville, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John and Rose (Cleyle) Cleyle. He had been retired. In the 1970’s he created and operated Man Shop on Aberdeen Street, Kentville. After this he moved to Washington, DC where he worked in the printing and hospitality industries. He returned to the Annapolis Valley to continue the family retail tradition of personalized service at Cleyle’s (clothing) in Windsor. In addition to his retail career, he was involved in commercial real estate in the Valley and Florida. Dave was a passionate family man who was proud of his Lebanese heritage which was often expressed through food. He was generous and good humored with a wide circle of friends. Dave had a passion for DIY projects, the outdoors (especially when armed with a chainsaw or paddle), sports cars, motorcycles, model railways and extravagant and ambitious modeling of military equipment. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Cleyle and Sally Cleyle, both of Kentville; a son, John David Cleyle, Kentville; their mother, Akke Leyenaar; nieces, Kim Dennis and Dawn Hunnewell and their families, as well as cousins in California. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Winter and Elizabeth Cleyle. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend E. E. Hill officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Craig’s Cause or to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
