GALLANT, ALBERT - Albert Gallant, 84, of Résidence du Marais in Dieppe and formerly of Leslie Street in Moncton, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born March 16, 1929 in Grande-Digue, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (LeBlanc) Gallant. Albert started working at CN in 1948 as a clerk and became a Special Projects Manager in 1979. He worked for 40 years until he retired in July 1988. He was a loans officer for the Credit Union, a member of the Resolutions for the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway, Transport and General Workers Committee. He volunteered and helped organize the United Way Campaign for CN and for the City of Moncton for 23 years from 1966 to 1989. He is survived by two children: Claudette Steeves (Ronald) and Maurice; three grandchildren: Lee, Patrick (Shannon) and Marc (Melissa); four great-grandchildren: Weston, Nelson, Lenon and Victoria; one sister, Rita Léger (Gilles); two brothers: Richard (Noëlla) and Yvon; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille née Langis (2011); a son, Martin (1986); two brothers: Léo and Henri. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude towards the staff at Résidence du Marais and the doctors and staff at the Georges-Dumont for their wonderful care and compassion provided to Albert.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday February 21, 2014 at 11 am. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Albert, a contribution to the CHU
