HICKEY, MURRAY A. J. - Murray A. J. Hickey of Cox Point Road, Cumberland Bay passed away on February 17, 2014 after a long struggle with cancer. Born February 21, 1942, the son of Georgina A (DeLucry) Hickey and Roy P. Hickey, Murray grew up and attended schools in Minto, New Brunswick. He received a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. Family and friends knew Murray as a very self sufficient, determined, competitive person with a great sense of humor and master of the quick retort. Following his illness we can add high degrees of optimism, stoicism, composure and grace.He is survived by son Ryan (Stacey) Hickey of Ottawa, three grandchildren, brother Pat (Linda) Hickey and Gregory Hickey, and very best friend Marjorie Steele all of Fredericton, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sons Sean and Scott Hickey, sister Donna Marquis, brother-in-law Ken Marquis, and sister-in-law Roma Hickey.
At Murray’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
