BLAKNEY, GUY - Guy “Guyzee” Blakney passed away peacefully following a brief illness at The Moncton Hospital on, February 17th, 2014, at the age of 76. Born in Moncton on May 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nellie Blakney and is survived by his wife of 58 years Emily, son Kenneth (Marjorie), daughter Debra (Colin), brothers Tom (Shirley), Russell (Joyce), Richard (Sharon), Daniel (Judy), his sister Nancy Johnson, grandchildren Timothy (Melissa), Lisa, Melissa and Amanda, great-grandchild Ethan as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Guy was predeceased by his brother Samuel and brother in law Dennis Johnson. Guy enjoyed outdoor recreation such as ATVing, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting. He also liked bowling, playing crib with his brothers, watching hockey, games shows and helping others. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and most recently his great grandson. His career went from an engraver for Clogg’s Jewelry, driving truck for Downey Lumber, Irving Oil, heavy equipment operator for Carter’s/Riverview Utilities and then retired from Hub Meat Packers as a purchasing agent.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21st, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and Saturday from 1 to 2 pm. The funeral service celebrating Guy’s life will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 Pastor Jonathan Gorham officiating. A reception will follow in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Extra Mural (Driscoll Division) and the excellent staff of the 3rd Floor Cardiac Acute Unit of The Moncton Hospital. No Flowers by Family Request. As your expression of sympathy memorial donations can be made to Easter Seals, Canadian Lung Association and the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
