
Alice Margaret Dwyer
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Margaret Dwyer age 86 of Maccan on Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born on July 31, 1927 in Chignecto, NS, Alice was a daughter of the late John and Edwina (McLellan) Collins.
She worked as a Postmistress of Maccan along with her husband Logan Hance for 30 years.
Alice enjoyed volunteering her time with CGIT for many years and was an axillary member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10 Amherst. Alice was a member of the Golden Years Club as well as a life member of the Maccan United Church.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Hance (Dianna) Dwyer, Kitchener ON; grandson, Kevin Hance Dwyer, living at home in Maccan, John (Tonya) Dwyer, Joel (Bobbie-Joe) Dwyer, and Heidi (Mike) Dwyer all of Kitchener ON; great grandchildren, Max, Kara, Hannah and JJ all of Kitchener ON; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friend, Everett Hamilton, Amherst.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her husband, Logan Hance; sister, Francis Dunlop; brothers, Laurie, and Johnny.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with funeral service on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Maccan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alice’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
