At the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer, of Joseph Donald "Joe" Murphy, beloved husband of Jean Marie (nee Doyle) Murphy of Dock Road, age 71 years. Born at St. Lawrence on Jan. 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Clarence and Lima (nee Handrahan) Murphy. Loving father to John (Pam) and Kenny (Laura). Cherished grandfather to Mitchell and Craig, all of Brampton, Ont. He is survived by siblings, Earl (Jean), Richard (late Freda and late Marie), Josie (late Ulysse), Leonard (Christine), and Fred (Sheila). Also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law: Flo, Sue, Earl (late Rose), Judy, Hubert (Lorraine), and Roy (Sheila). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank and Russell. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. There was no public visitation by personal request. Funeral mass was held Monday, Feb. 17, from the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Chris Sherrin, celebrant. Interment later in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the Western Hospital Equipment Fund or to the Prince County Oncology Unit would be gratefully appreciated.
