Arnold Tonnies

It is with great sadness, the family of Arnold William Tonnies announce his passing, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Leduc, Alberta, in his 71st year, on February 23, 2014. A former resident of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Arnold is survived and will be missed by his wife of 46 years, Dianne (Queffelec), son Norman (Jody) in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and daughter Alana (Kent) Hall in Leduc, Alberta. A loving Papa to Ethan, Jackson and Avery Tonnies and Noah and Reece Hall. Arnold is survived by brothers, Walter Pierce (Edna), Clem Tonnies (Lynn), Richard Tonnies (Sue), Jim Tonnies ( Liz), and Miles Tonnies (Frances). Survived by sisters, Marlene Jones, Judy Eberle (Frank), and Marie Guillemette (Gil), Sister-in-Law, Hedy Pierce, and Step Mother-in-Law, Ann Queffelec. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, William and Sophie Tonnies, his brother, Fred Pierce and his mother and father-in-law, Henri and Blanche Queffelec. Arnold loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being a Papa to his five grandchildren. He was passionate about golfing - some of his best memories were of times spent golfing with his brothers, nephews, grandsons and friends. Arnold’s yearly camping trips to Wainfleet, Ontario were a highlight of his life. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration for Arnold’s Swift Current and area friends and his family who reside in Western Canada to honor Arnold’s life. This Celebration will be held at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, Swift Current, Saskatchewan on April 1st at 7pm. A Celebration of Arnold’s Life will be held in Ontario in August with interment following. The family would like to thank the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, Alberta, for their care and compassion these past 3.5 years, and the nurses of Leduc Home Care. Donations to the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, Alberta will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. The family would also like to send a special thank you to their friends and extended family members for all of their love, support and prayers during this difficult time.
