Suddenly at his home on Sunday, March 2, 2014 of Mr. James Andrew Smith, of Charlottetown, formerly of Rose Valley, aged 73 years.
James was born February 24, 1941 in Smith's Road, P.E.I., to his late parents, Samuel and Phoebe (nee Axworthy) Smith.
James worked for 20 years with the Scarborough Hydro Utility until a back injury caused him to retire. In 1987, he, his wife and two youngest sons, moved back to the family property in Rose Valley, P.E.I.
James is survived by his wife, Audrey (nee Walsh) Smith, of Charlottetown; his sons, Barry (Marilyn) and Wayne (Michelle) of Ontario, Ricky (Joe Martell) and Brian of Charlottetown, and his only grandchild, Emily Smith. Also survived by his sisters and his brother, Mina Lord of Ontario, Sadie Frizzell, and Brenton (Ruth) Smith; his sisters-in-law, Helen Smith and Ella Mayhew-Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, James was predeceased by his infant son, Gary Lloyd (Feb. 9, 1966); his sisters and brothers, Dorothy Smith, Bertha Frizzell, Robert Smith and Cecil Smith; three brothers-in-law, Walter Lord, Roy Frizzell and Ivan Frizzell (all of P.E.I.). Also predeceased by two half brothers and three half sisters of Claremont, NH.
No visitation or funeral service by personal request. Cremation to take place, with interment of ashes at a later date.
