Passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital after a long battle with cancer on March 1, 2014, with his wife by his side. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland on July 12, 1948, he is the son of Patrick and the late Evelyn Dawe. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cathy (Catherine) Dawe, siblings; Mary, Arthur "Bud" (Daphne), Janis, and Sharon (Bruce) Chafe. He also had several nephews and niece, with a special nephew Ian (Lorna) Palmer and great nephews Kyle and Chad in Dartmouth which he was very close with. Ronald worked with the Administration team of the CNR for 36 years and was transferred to Moncton in 1981. He was also a member of the CN Pension Association. Ronald loved his time in Saint Petersburg Florida during his retirement years, where he made good friends in Romany Park. Ron was an avid reader who enjoyed History and Biographies, he had a love for sports especially watching hockey, baseball and golf. His biggest passion was cooking. After retirement he became an active volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross delivering Meals on Wheels, and help with many project for the JDRF (team Tommy), and always believed in giving back to the community. Also a member of Country Meadow Gold Club he especially enjoyed Friday night fun nights and special events. A memorial service celebrating Ronald's life will be held in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service. Ron's wife would like to thank the Team of Dr's. from Palliative care unit along with the nurses for the great care during the short stay with them, along with the many nurses from the Extra Mural especially his home nurse Trudy. A reception will follow in the Garden View Room. Interment will be at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Palliative Care or Extra Mural unit would be greatly appreciated.
