James 'Jimmie' Villa

It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of James Francis 'Jimmy' Villa, at home on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Fiorentino and Mildred (Gouthro) Villa.
Jimmy devoted his life to helping others, he worked 35 years as an LPN, retiring this past October from the Glace Bay Hospital. He was a true movie buff and also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Loch Lomond in his earlier days.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Melissa (Reid) and his only son, Marcus at home. Also left to mourn Jimmy’s passing are his brothers, Robert (Charlene), New Waterford, Kevin, Sydney; sisters, Mildred (Ollie) Wilson, Dartmouth, Ann Marie (Steve) Ansell, Ontario, Debbie (Donnie) Peckham, Mira; several nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by sisters Yvonne Thomas, Ontario, and Lucille MacIsaac, New Waterford.
Visitation for Jimmy will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Memorial donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
