ALEXANDER JOHN LINK

It is with sadness that the family of Alexander Link announce his passing after an acute illness.
Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Alexander was the first child of Peter and Annie LInk. Alexander grew up in small towns in Saskatchewan and Alberta, where he developed a lifelong interest and love of the natural world, later poignantly expressed in his wood carvings. He joined the RCMP in January, 1952 and for 25 years, served members of the community with compassion at various detachments throughout British Columbia. This was followed by 12 years service with B.C. Corrections in the Fraser Valley.
Alexander and his wife Mercedes retired to Gibsons, BC in 1992. During his retirement years he travelled abroad with his wife, and devoted himself to his wood carving and enjoyed the company of his family on their visits to the Sunshine Coast.
Survived by his wife Mercedes (nee Schwartzenhauer) of 57 years; and his five children, Catherine Taylor (Sidney), Christopher (Carolyn), Alexander (Monique), Michael (Courtney), Paul (Hamdee), and his eight grandchildren, Courtney (Matt), Nathan, Taylor, Cydney, Sasha, Clare, Carmen and Evan.
Funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gibsons, BC on Monday, March 3 at 2pm.
Cremation followed. Funeral arrangements by Devlin Funeral Home. No flowers by request. Donations to a charity of choice or to Covenant House, Vancouver, B.C. would be appreciated.
