He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on December 10, 1930. Jim was a descendent of early Scottish settlers who came to Canada in 1776 and settled in South Maitland, Nova Scotia. They were ship wrights in the flourishing ship building industry where his love of wood working originated. The Waddell Family homestead remains in South Maitland and was dear to his heart. He and his wife Dorothy lived in Halifax, Fredericton and Truro and finally settled in Moncton in 1966 with their five children. Jim and Dorothy were active members of Holy Family Parish. James was a commercial traveller for over 30 years and a member of the United Commercial Travellers of Canada. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Leverman), brothers Donald (Celia) and Dale (Joy) Palmer, sister-in-law Marjorie Leverman, son Michael (Nathalie) and daughters Linda(Bill) Waterfield, Beverley Nelson, Trish (David) King and Mary Waddell. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by grandchildren Corey Waterfield, Chelsea (Dan) Waterfield-Cox, Joshua and Victoria Nelson, Zachary and Jessica Waddell, and Katherine and Colin Williams and cherished great-grandson Ashton William Arthur Cox. James was predeceased by an infant daughter, and family members Warren, Catherine, Ruby, Owen, Robert, Howard, Anne and son-in-law Stanley Nelson. Jim gave his family life, love, sacrifice and high standard for caring for that life and love. His pride and joy was in his family and especially his wife Dorothy.
