Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 of Tom Hegarty of Charlottetown, age 80 years.
Beloved husband of Betty (nee Murphy) Hegarty and dear father of Larry Hegarty (Judy Fraser) and Debbie Bryan. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Courtney (Cory) Sudsbury, Justin Hegarty (Angela Vriends), Chelsea Hegarty, Whitney Bryan and Carley Hegarty; one great-grandchild, Sadie Sudsbury; sisters, Winnie McInnis, Fran Barker and Bernadette Murphy.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Bernadette (nee Dunphy) Hegarty; brothers, Joe, Bob, John, Jim and George Hegarty; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois Hegarty, Etta Hegarty, Duncan McInnis, Norm Barker and Maurice Murphy.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Monday morning then transferred to St. Pius X Church for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment later in the family plot in St. Joachim's Parish Cemetery, Vernon River. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or St. Joachim's Parish Cemetery Fund. Visiting hours on Sunday 4-7 p.m.
