July 28, 1945 - March 22, 2014 - It is with deep sorrow and saddened hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful man, a loving and devoted husband, loving father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend. James Joseph Foley, aged 68 years passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Predeceased by his father James J. Foley (2007), brother Donald Foley (2007), mother-in-law Margaret Abbott (1998), father-in-law Robert Abbott (1985), brother-in-law Robert Abbott Jr. (1996) and brother-in-law Claude Power (1980). Jim was a former employee of the city of St. John's. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Lorraine, a loving daughter Sheri-Lyn (Colin Dawe) and grandson Damion Dawe. Jim's wonderful family to whom he is very close, his loving mother Louise Foley; sisters Dorothy Murray, Patsy Evans (Jerry) and especially his sister Sandra Power (Claude deceased) who Jim considered the matriarch of the family. Jim dearly loved Sandra for the loving and caring was she took care of their mother and aunt. Jim thought Sandra to be a loving and very special person. Jim's mother, sisters and aunt made it a point to visit Jim on a regular basis. Also leaving to mourn his very special aunt, Dorothy Sellars; sister-in-law Lilly and brother-in-law Jim Marnell who were by his side constantly throughout his illness; brother-in-law Jim Abbott (Joanne) who loved him like a brother and was always there to share a laugh; brother-in-law Tony Abbott (Roseann) who was a great help during his illness and was always there and brother-in-law Bruce Abbott. Left many nieces and nephews especially Chris and Jimmy Marnell; special friends Flora and Reg Crane; Marie Ryan; Bob Marnell and Tom Marnell. Jim's three furry friends Holly, Ari and Ani will certainly miss him. Special thank-you to Dr. Keith Noble, Dr. Siddiqui, nurses and staff at the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Unit. Also a heartfelt thanks to the nurses on 4NA at the Health Sciences especially Flora Colbert. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Monday and Tuesday, March 24th and March 25th from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral to take place on Wednesday March 26 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica Parish. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Jim's name may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
