
J. Leopold Renault
RENAULT, J. LEOPOLD (PAUL) - 1921-2014 - J. Leopold (Paul) Renault passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the age of 92. He served in the Royal Canadian Army from 1939-1946 and remained in the army reserves for a few years afterward. He went overseas in 1941 with the North Shore Regiment and was transferred to the Canadian General Headquarters (2nd Echelon). He served in England and throughout Europe, including Germany. For his distinguished wartime service, he was awarded the MBE(Military Division) in 1945. While in England, he met Rose Copsey whom he married on May 24, 1945. For most of his working career, he was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company from which he retired at the age of 55. He subsequently undertook work as an insurance broker and estate planner. Paul was an avid golfer and member of the Moncton Golf Club since 1971. He was also very dedicated to his church as an active member of Holy Family Parish and a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. For many years, he was an enthusiastic volunteer at Peoples Park Tower and Karing Kitchen. He is survived by his son, Paul S. Renault (Claudine) of Halifax and daughter, Jennifer Steeves (Andrew) of Moncton; his brother, Jacques of Campbellton; grandchildren, Nicole (Joey), Colin (Melanie), Danielle (Mike), Marc (Nisa) and Lise; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose and son, Michael; sisters, Alma, Germaine, Frances and Theresa.

In keeping with Paul’s wishes, there will be no visitation hours. Funeral Mass at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Falkland St., Moncton on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 am. Reception following the Mass. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
