Passed peacefully away on March 16, 2008 at his residence 1107 Broadwood Drive, Rockville, Maryland at the age of 87. Known to his friends as "Billy" from his Holy Cross days, he left Newfoundland in 1960, but spent many vacations in his native St. John's. He is survived by his wife Dallas (Rose), son Paul of Rockville, daughter Carol Johnston (Robert) of St. John's, sisters-in-law Glenys Penny and Drexel Rose of St. John's, and Florence Penn of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews and friends in St. John's and Rockville.
