Braeshore - John David Russell, 70, of Braeshore, Pictou, passed away suddenly March 27, 2014 in the Victoria General in Halifax. Born in Hamilton, Ont., he was a son of George and Mary Russell. John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara (Lawless), Braeshore; brother, Jim (Marie), Dundas, Ont.; brothers-in-law: Doug (Dorothy) Lawless, Little Harbour; Russell (Maureen) Lawless, Eureka; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, George Russell, mother, Mary Russell Hughes, step-father, Jack Hughes. John served with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1960-1989 in the armoured regiments, serving in Europe and Canada. There will be no visitation or service. He will be laid to rest at a later date at St. James Anglican Church, Halfway Cove, Guys. Co. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation; St. James Church, Pictou; SPCA or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H.
