Rose MacKinnon
Born In: New Waterford
Passed in: New Waterford
Passed on: April 3rd, 2014
With heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden peaceful passing of Rose MacKinnon on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the New Waterford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Waterford, Rose was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth ‘Lizzie May’ (Deveaux) Aucoin.
Rose was a member of St. Leonard Church. She was a great supporter of her former church, St. Michael’s and her present church as a devoted and long time choir member. Her faith and love for God got her through this illness and will always be an inspiration for her family. Following retirement from the K-Mart, Rose was employed as a caregiver which came naturally to her; as she was always a compassionate lady ready to help others. She loved to bake, travel down south, visit her children in other parts of Canada and go for walks with her best friend and husband, Dannie.
Rose could brighten up a room with her personality; she always saw the positive qualities in each person. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and will be sadly missed by all.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, companion and best friend, Dannie; one daughter, Shauna; two sons, Donald (Wanda), Darnell; one sister, Madeline Hiseler (Lindsay); three brothers, Patrick, Russell (Lorraine) and David (Susan). Also surviving are Rose’s grandchildren, Danielle, Samantha, Brittany, Tanner, Tessa, Kenzie, Dylan, Jacob, numerous nieces, nephews and members of the MacKinnon family, Agnes, John, Gordon, Janette and many relatives and friends in New Waterford and Cheticamp.
Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her stepfather, Charles Hachè; sisters, Shirley, Patricia, Charlotte and members of the MacKinnon family, John Joe, Mary Jane, Kay, Art, Alex, Mickey, Roddie and Bennie.
The family would like to thank the staff at the New Waterford Hospital and a special thank you to Rose’s niece, Shelly MacLellan.
A private visitation will be held at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford followed by cremation. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Monday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church followed by a reception at St. Leonard’s Hall, Convent Street. The interment will be held at a later date in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nora Huntley Foundation or the Cancer Society.

"Your gentle face and pleasant smile
With sadness we recall.
You had a kindly word for each
And died loved by all.
You are not forgotten loved one
Nor will you ever be.
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee."
