
Gilbert "Lew" Gamblin
GAMBLIN, GILBERT "LEW" - It is with great sadness that the family of Gilbert Lewis Gamblin announces his death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on April 6, 2014. He was born in Carlingford, NB on February 11th, 1936 to the late Cuthbert and Margaret (White) Gamblin.
Lew will be remembered for his love of fishing and John Wayne movies. He was often found at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 playing darts and shuffleboard, or he could be found at the nearest pool table competing with his best pals. He was a hard worker, proven by his years with Midland Transport and the Toronto Transit. His love of Toronto followed him to New Brunswick as he watched the Jays and Maple Leafs on television. Lew also loved Lake George and spent much of his time off enjoying the sound of nature. Survived by his loving partner and special friend, Marg Hoyt; son, Stephen (Christina); daughters, Kim Paulin (Alain) and Robyn Aubin (Danny); six grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Dominic, Jennifer, Samantha and Christian; Marg’s children, Tim and his daughter, Julia, and James (Lesley); brothers, Loomis (Stella), Roland (Doreen), Verdel (Eliane) and Jerry (Heather); sisters, Lillian Cormier, Margaret Brantley and Martha Atwood (Will) and numerous nieces and nephews. Lew was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Charles, Arthur and Albert and his sisters, Lucinda Boyce and Clara Willett.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, April 8th, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on April 9th, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. A tribute by the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. #4 will be performed on April 8th, 2014 at 6:50 pm.
