It is with broken hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother, Sylvia MacMullin, on April 5, 2014 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and angels from every department of the hospital.
Ma is now back in the arms of our loving father, the love of her life.
Born September 22, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ann (Muise) McPhee.
Ma is survived by her five loving children; Paula (Fabe Rhodes), Darrell (Brenda Miller), Karen (Donnie) Currie, Rhonda (Chris) Helgason, Terri (Kevin) MacNeil. She will also be sadly missed by her ten grandchildren, Amanda (Todd), John (Tracey), Starr (Dave), Cory (Mike), Dexter, Carter, Sonja, Mason, Devin (Tasha) and August; eight great-grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law Megan; her only living aunt, Bernadette MacMullin; sister-in-law Rhoda (Brian) Cann; brothers-in-law Fred Sim and Normie Coffin; step sister Ann Marie (Norman) Patterson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Ma was also predeceased by her husband James 'Buddy' MacMullin; grandson Jamie McMullin; baby brother Anthony; son-in-law Jimmy Hurley; sisters-in-law Ethel Sim and Amelia Coffin.
Ma was a resident of Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, for the past two years, where she made many friends and where she was treated like a mother should be treated, “With Lots Of Love”.
Visitation for Sylvia will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Cremation will follow with interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Sylvia’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
