NEW GLASGOW – Harold A. Hambleton, 84, New Glasgow, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Matthews) Hambleton.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed as a plumber for over 40 years, having worked many construction sites throughout Canada, including jobs on Sable Island and the Distant Early Warning (DEW) line in the Northern Arctic. Harold enjoyed gardening and dancing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Surviving are son, Gregory (Julie) Hambleton, Halifax; daughter, Cathy (James) Craig, Dartmouth; grandchildren: Lesley (Rob) Harrison, Cow Bay; Laura Hambleton (Sam March), Delft, Netherlands; Owen Craig and Emily Craig, Dartmouth; great-grandson, Sam Harrison, Cow Bay; sisters, Shirley Howes, Ottawa, ON; Joyce McMullen, Trenton; step-mother, Margaret Hambleton, Edinburgh, Scotland; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Isobel (Fraser); sisters: Stella Irving, Jean Abbass and Dorothy Hambleton; brothers: Les, John and Doug.
At Harold’s request, a private graveside service will be held in Bridgeville cemetery.
