David E. Field, 57, of Parrsboro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Elmer and Doris (Allen) Field.
David has been a resident of Parrsboro his entire life touching the hearts of so many. After the passing of his mom and dad, his brothers and sisters dedicated their lives to his care.
The reward for their dedication were the lessons that David taught without trying - patience, kindness and the ability to find joy in every moment.
David could often be found riding the ‘merry-go-round’ during Parrsboro’s annual Old Home Week. Each year for that one week, David was the “horsie circus boss.”
Before David’s move to South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro, he resided with his sister Norma at her home in Parrsboro. David and Norma shared a love most brothers and sisters can only hope for, a love that will never be broken as it will remain in their hearts forever.
He is survived by sisters, Jewell (James) Melanson, Springhill; Norma Hamel, Parrsboro; several “special” nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Barnes, Lillian Hamel; brothers, Elmer Jr. and Louis; brother-in-law, Florian Hamel.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. on Thursday in the Parrsboro Baptist Church, Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating. Burial in the Parrsboro Baptist Cemetery.
