​SWEET, WILLIAM EDWARD - The family of William Edward Sweet of Harvey Station, NB, are saddened to announce that he passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on April 15, 2014. Bill was born in Fredericton, NB on July 10, 1949. He was the son of the late Ralph and Millicent (Pugh) Sweet. Bill spent most of his career working for the Province in the Office of the Comptroller. His leisure time was spent outdoors fishing, hunting, preparing firewood for winter and, especially sledding and wheeling. He loved to cover long distances, taking trips throughout the province on either machine. He belonged to the Cherry Mountain Masonic Lodge in Harvey Station, NB where he served as treasurer for many years. Bill is survived by his sisters, Susan (late Curtis) Saunders, Fredericton, NB and Debbie (Richard) Maston, Rusagonis, NB. He also leaves behind nieces, Julie (Corey) Stewart and Joanna (Scott) Morse, as well as his great nephew, Griffin Stewart and nieces, Olivia Stewart, Georgia Morse and Zoe Morse. He is also survived by his aunts, Enid Saunders and Anna Pugh and his cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Sweet. The family wishes to thank Bill's special friends, Eddie Boucher, Bernie McCann, Debbie Richard and Pat Tozer for the special care and concern they showed for him. We also would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Annan, Oncology and Dr. Debra Gowan and staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their service and compassion during his illness.
Honoring Bill’s wishes there will be no visitation. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 2 pm at the St. Andrews United Church, 2350 Route 3, Harvey Station, NB. A reception will follow. A private family committal service will occur later in the season. For those who wish to make a memorial donation, the family suggests the Fredericton Hospice Building Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
